Pack a meal prioritizes protein with some healthy sides. Add whole fruits for snacks. 

And check the schools food calendar for anything that may work.

I’d often feel jittery and lack the necessary en I’d often feel jittery and lack the necessary energy to perform well at practice 🏀 as a young teen. It was likely to not consuming adequate protein throughout the day and having a bag of skittles as a pre practice snack. 

Pay attention to how certain foods make you feel. Are they helping provide healthy energy for hours after eating or are they going to come with a crash?

Although there are many variables that come with how you feel, food (and drink) are right up there at the top! 

Shoot for quality sources of protein for sustainable energy, especially if you’re an athlete!

Removing something that isn’t helping with your Removing something that isn’t helping with your health can have a positive impact. Try removing something for 15 days that you know isn’t good for you. 

What is it for you?
•sugary drinks
•a certain ultra-processed food
•phone time before bed
•sitting on the couch after dinner
•getting frustrated at the same thing over and over 

Try it out! You may be shocked how better you feel and not have the desire to consume or return to it after going without it for a period of time. 

Subtract to ADD more health!

•sport specific skills- work on your craft
•strength-resistance exercises using body weight, weights, bands 
•endurance and speed work
•recovery

When it comes to food that means consuming less ultra processed foods-Foods that come out of a package or box. Without a doubt limiting ultra processed food and drinks will SIGNIFICANTLY improve kid and teens health. 

Whole Foods on the other hand mostly contain nutrients that aren’t present in ultra processed foods. 

•More nutrient dense containing vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients that are important for growth and development.
•Contain Fiber which aids digestion and controlling blood sugar levels 
•Contain anti inflammatory compounds to help ward off illness and disease.
•Helps improve mental health reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression.
